Great Toothpaste!,

I personally used this item because i've used crest white strips which have dramatically increased the whiteness of my teeth. However, after several usages of the whitestrips, my teeth got sensitive and started hurting every time i used them, so i turned to crest vivid white, which is a miracle. My teeth can stay white without hurting, great product, highly recommend it!

Recommended For Most People,
July 24, 2005 This review is from: Crest Vivid White Toothpaste (Health and Beauty)
I was recently given a sample of "Crest Vivid White," and would generally recommend it under most circumstances. I have never had any cavities, but as I get older I have noticed that my teeth aren't as white as they used to be. Unfortunately, I have a crown that is visible when I smile that was perfectly color-matched when it was replaced a few years ago. In my specific case, I had to discontinue using the "Vivid White" because it significantly whitened my natural teeth, but was not whitening the crown (at least at the same rate.) Before the difference became noticeable I stopped using it.
For most people I highly recommend this product as it does make teeth notably whiter; if you happen to have dental work visible when you smile, exercise caution, as the whitening effect may not be even. I think most people would love this toothpaste.

Questionable methods, otherwise good.,

Crest Vivid White does begin to show a noticeable change after a few uses on natural teeth primarily because it swiftly tackles surface stains, so it certainly lives up to the rave, but I am curious to it's abrasiveness on tooth enamel. Whitening toothpastes generally exfoliate enamel to allow the chemicals to reach deeper into your teeth, thus showing surprisingly effective results. However Crest corporation does note "minimally abrasive" in their marketing. Then again, remember that they're selling a product, so this could be sugarcoated.
Traditionally, the ADA rarely embraces whitening toothpaste as they tend to be harmful in longterm use and I doubt this will be different, but it does contain fluoride (something rather important), so it's not all bad.
I question that Crest has created a miracle whitener, else I presume more dentists would be raving about it. The only one I've heard consistently about is Colgate Total, and I come from a dental family. So...Read more
