Comment: First of all, I'd like to say that I'm not a big fan of the toothpastes included in this kit... they taste yucky and don't provide any added benefit that I can see.. of course, taste is relative. Other than that, though, I think this kit works wonders... it removes stains that only a dental cleaning can manage on me. I think that this kit is far better than any of the strips and trays out there for a few reasons:
- less mess (no slippy strips or drippy trays that don't really fit)
- easier (though busting those amps is a little freaky on the first couple of tries!)
- healthier
- no tooth sensitivity
About the healthier bit... GoSmile is actually GOOD for your mouth. It is a hydrogen peroxide solution and it is good for your gum health. I love that! Keep in mind, though, that if you let the solution drip in your mouth you'll be sad as it is quite bitter. I think that is why the "maintenance" amps are flavored with different fruit flavors. The starter solution is minty, but I am pretty sensitive to bitter so to me... it's just bitter. But you'll learn how to keep the yuck off your tongue since it really IS easy to use.
All that said, I wish this were cheaper... but I always wish stuff that actually works would be cheaper. I think it's a fantastic system, but I am someone that doesn't have gleaming whites to begin with.. I don't follow a very fantastic dental hygiene program so my results where probably more dramatic than other people might see. If you have reasonably white teeth and are going for Hollywood white, then you might just need to suck it up and go to the dentist. But if you are trying to glam up for a special occasion like a reunion or wedding, give GoSmile a try. This would be great for maintenance between cleanings, too, because GoSmile really does zap food and drink stains like they claim.
If I could do it again, I would buy the plain old starter set without the toothpaste and then buy the maintenance amps whenever. The toothpaste you can really live without, I think.
