Xylitol is a great method to prevent AND fight cavities. It can heal cavities when they are still small and before they become visible. Xylitol is a good sugar substitute also and has zero calories since it does not bind. However, since it does not bind, some people's digestive system might be sensitive to it, so definitely keep it in moderation. Definitely do not give xylitol to dogs.
