I started having receding gum issues in the past few years and thought I'd try this toothpaste. Yes, it's a weird pinkish paste colour. But the flavour is not strange. I am not sure if the toothpaste's claim to fame (protecting the gums) is working, however I have noticed that I brush more carefully and meticulously because the paste does not have a foaming agent (sulfites - which also cause that bitter flavour if you drink orange juice after brushing your teeth). My proof is that as my life has gotten busier, I have found it difficult to consistently floss. Lately my 6-month appointments with the dentist have resulted in a few reprimands about flossing. Ever since using this paste, even though I am still sporadically flossing, the dentist has noticed an improvement in my teeth. The sulfite-laden pastes make you feel like you brushed well when in fact you have not. Even if you don't get this toothpaste, please consider getting one without sulfites, they are much better for the...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Great medicinal toothpaste, November 29, 2011

much better then Tom's. the other review about it being red, its just looks odd when you brush your teeth with it, but it is medicinal, if your gums hurt, or infected, it will clean a lot of it out, and stop the pain. its a wonderful toothpaste if you can look beyond the color. Tom's is harsh and does nothing but makes your mouth taste minty, big deal.

This stuff works really well. I like that it doesn't foam because it doesn't fill my mouth up rapidly while brushing like other tooth pastes do. It is very red, a clay-like red, but that is because of the natural ratahnia in it. No food dye! It left my teeth feeling very clean. I have found that it works just as well for sensitivity as sensodine (for me anyway). If you're concerned about fluoride, just use this in conjunction with a fluoride rinse. I brush at night with this and rinse my mouth several times a day (after meals) with fluoride rinse.
